This is a no frill post.
Learning how to make hard boiled eggs is a simple task that is so difficult to accomplish successfully. One day you think you are on top, and the next day Tyra Banks is sending you home with an egg that looks like it came out of an acupuncture session. Why is the simple act of boiling an egg and removing its shell so difficult? My take on it is that we are trying too hard. To make a hard boiled egg you do not need an Instant Pot. You do not need to add vinegar to your water, or lemon peels. I just read an article about how to make hard boiled eggs in your air fryer and let me tell you right now you do not need to do that either. I'm going to go out with a bold statement but, I can make perfect hard boiled eggs every single time. Maybe the egg gods have gifted little o'l me with this talent, or maybe it's not as hard as we think. Either way I feel compelled by the egg gods to share my method.
See that picture above? Not only is it the most abstract picture to grace the site of Jenerousplates.com but it's also a picture of a hard boiled egg whose bottom shell I can remove in one pull. That's how perfect these eggs turn out every time.
How to Hard Boil an Egg:
1. Remove eggs from fridge and set aside
2. Fill a large pot with enough water to submerge eggs completely (do not put the eggs in the pot)
3. Bring water to a rapid boil
4. Lower eggs into the pot with a slotted spoon (Be careful. I have been cocky and experienced many egg hemorrhages in my time)
5. Let eggs boil for 12 minutes exactly
6. While eggs are boiling fill a large boil with ice and water (commonly known as an ice bath)
7. When eggs are done cooking, use the slotted spoon to transfer eggs from boiling water to the ice bath
8. Let the eggs sit in the ice bath for 10 minutes or longer
9. Crack the shell of the egg on a counter or your faucet (like I do) and peel with extreme ease
10. Eat as is, make egg salad, make deviled eggs where people don't laugh at you for having ugly eggs. Go to town.
